Who are The Three Sisters?

 

They are three talented award winning art quilters from 3 different countries; virtual sisters connected not by birth but by artistic creativity. They combine design, painting, fabric, education, and tri-nation creativity into inspirations of mythic proportions.

Annette M Hendricks from Chicago IL USA, Gail E Thomas from Vernon BC Canada,and Helen Godden from Canberra ACT Australia have combined their passion for colour, design and textiles to create award winning Tri-Nation Collaborative quilts that cross nations and globe.

Each independent award winning artists, they have been insprired to create a set of international group quilts and share their experiences working together. See their creations in the Quilts section, watch for them in upcoming shows, and hold on for a true Masters Class of 3 in 2009 for a hands on approach to creativity where you can be part of the famliy.

I came into this quilting world with no previous sewing experience or restricting rules and that seems to have been to my advantage. I am very excited where my art quilting has already taken me in such a short amount of time.

I have received awards both nationally and internationally and am enjoying teaching and sharing my ideas with others. Doing my own thing and taking my own path works for me. I like to leap outside the square and love inspiring others to step into new territory.

I received my artistic training from Northern Illinois University in 1986, where I received a bachelor degree in Art Education and a minor in Art History. 

Mixing that formal training art media training with my own understanding of color, fabric, and design along with the benefits of collaboration with other quilt artists has been a powerful combination for creativity..
